Penn State's Beaver Stadium is set to undergo extensive renovations, but fans hope the spirit and atmosphere remain intact, especially for whiteout games. Nittany Lions fans love their home venue and didn't hesitate to vote (early and often) for Beaver Stadium as the best stadium in college football. Congratulations to all the Nittany Lions fans on the win.
Beaver Stadium recently won the “Best Stadium in College Football” category by The Athletic. The 32-venue bracket included top-seeded Michigan Stadium, the Rose Bowl, Tennessee's Neyland Stadium and Texas A&M's Kyle Field. No. 2 seed Beaver Stadium topped them all.
Beaver Stadium advanced to the Final Four, beating out Notre Dame Stadium, Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium, and Michigan Stadium. There, Beaver Stadium recorded a critical upset against the Rose Bowl and then defeated Tiger Stadium in the championship game. Beaver Stadium received 72.6 percent of the votes against LSU, according to a reporter for The Athletic. An overwhelming victory.
Beaver Stadium is about to undergo renovations as part of a four-year, $700 million renovation. Construction work is underway on the second-largest stadium in the country, with the demolition project expected to begin after the 2024 season. Penn State hired Populous to design and oversee the renovation. Penn State athletic director Patrick Kraft said he expects the plan to be completed by June 2024.
