Promoter Eddie Hearn has questions about the mental state of Ryan Garcia, who will face WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney on April 20th.
Hearn likes Ryan's hand speed and power, but he's ready for the much-anticipated headliner against Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) at the DAZN PPV at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. I don't know if there are.
One of Hearn's concerns is whether Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) will blow up in the media attention during fight week in New York. He will be under a microscope and will be under a lot of pressure.
Putting pressure on someone who is already at their breaking point can make things worse and make things worse. Who knows what will happen to Ryan then?
doubt and uncertainty
“Ryan can punch. As far as preparation, you never know. 2-3 weeks ago [there was doubt]And that must have been pretty difficult for Devin, because did she really think this fight was happening in her mind?'' promoter Eddie Hearn said on The Best Women's Boxing Show. Ta.
“He's a real pro, Devin, but he's had to work through doubts, and now there's two weeks left. Fans need to say, 'That's what's actually happening.' That day is getting closer and more likely. ”
Where Haney could have a problem is when trying to excite fans, something he's lacked in most of his fights since his close call against Jorge Linares in 2019.
If Haney chooses to stand in the pocket during the fight instead of using his typical finesse pullback style, he could be clipped by Ryan, who has more punch and much better hand speed. Haney has poor punch resistance and no power.
If Haney were to fight Ryan instead of playing it safe with a safety-first style, Ryan would have a better chance of winning. If you're Haney, you pretty much have to mix it up if you want to be a PPV attraction. Because fans aren't interested in buying his events because of his boring fighting style.
Analyze Ryan's behavior
It's a great battle. Because of the craziness that Ryan has put into the world, many people will tune into the show to find out what's going on with Ryan. He’s got it under control,” Hearn said.
“Once he gets to New York, he'll be under media scrutiny. There could even be an implosion. Oscar, Bernard, his parents, and Derrick James are not sure if he's really ready. If not, I don't think they would let him go to the game. If so, they should really be ashamed of themselves.”
It would be a disaster if Ryan had a mental breakdown during game week. He also talked about wanting to cause damage during the fight, breaking his arm and biting Haney. Will Ryan turn to any of them? Find out?
“So I think he looks great at the gym. One, it's not trolling, but he probably feels like he's telling the truth and is like, 'This is the real me.' . So I'm actually in a great place. ” So how do you know, “I actually feel great?” I'm saying what I want to say. It feels great,” Hearn said.
