Olympic and world champions lily king She is feeling the pain of training for the Olympics, repeating the 300m and 400m breaststroke in practice. Lilly, along with the IU Breaststroke Pro Crew, has continued to train her in this way as the college team cuts weight for conferences and her NCAA Championships. (The IU women won the Big Ten by 0.5 points, and Lilly explains more in this interview.)
Lily received a reprieve from Olympic training. A week before her Westmont pro swim, she flew to Brazil to film a commercial. She did not name the company, but the commercial is scheduled to air this summer ahead of the U.S. Olympic Swimming Games.
Did you shoot the commercial with a mini taper? not much. Lily was tired from traveling to her final pro swim. Lilly won the 100 and 200 breaststroke at Westmont in a time of 1:06.68 and 2:25.97. At the Indy Sectionals on March 21, Lilly achieved a season-best 200 breaststroke of 2:23.27.
At last year's 2023 World Championships, Lilly finished fourth twice in the 100m chest (1:06.02) and 200m chest (2:22.85), missing out on the podium. Of note, Lilly swam a 100 break of 1:04.75 and a 2;20.95 at the U.S. Trials earlier in the summer.
prediction
Lilly is 27 years old but still a tough player. She's having a great year and she's also a big meet swimmer. I see Lily returning within her PB at the US Olympic Trials, especially with stiff competition from Kate Douglas. She sees Lilly record her chest 100 meters at 1:04.7 and her chest 200 meters at 2:20.6.
