The Philadelphia Flyers are watching their Eastern Conference playoff hopes self-destruct. New goaltender Ivan Fedotov was lackluster and made many mistakes in the Flyers' 4-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabers on Friday.
Coach John Tortorella's Flyers have lost six straight games.
The Flyers still hold a one-point lead for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. But with only five games remaining and the team not doing well, the Flyers will have a hard time maintaining their lead.
With Philadelphia desperately trying to score, Tortorella only brought on the skilled Joel Farabee just over seven minutes into the game.
“The Flyers outscored Buffalo 12-4 in those seven minutes,” wrote Jonathan Bailey of Philadelphia Hockey Now. Oh, and his scoring chances during that period were 8-0 in favor of the Flyers. Seventy-five percent of the Flyers' shots Farabee took on the ice were scoring chances, but Farabee played seven minutes at five-on-five. It's becoming increasingly clear who head coach John Tortorella is interested in. ”
