The Pella boys soccer team bounced back to end the second week of the season with a 2-1 home victory over Carlisle on Friday night.
Carlisle took advantage of a quick corner kick in the fourth minute of the match, caught the Dutch unprepared, and scored a header for a 1-0 lead. Emmanuel Diaz came on as a forward late in the first half, adding more energy and speed up top. His pressure forced Holland to steal the ball inside the Wildcats' box, and forward Chase Hamilton was brought down, giving Pella a penalty. Teddy Apostolopoulos scored a goal 17 minutes into the game to tie the game.
Late in the first half, Pera threatened again, with Caleb Kalkwerf sending a long throw-in into the box that Apostolopoulos slotted into the net, giving the Netherlands a 2-1 victory.
Pella is 2-2 overall and will host DCG on Tuesday.
