A video shared on social media in early 2024 showed the official Olympic Games for infants.
The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris will be the third time the Summer Olympics have been held in Paris, after 1900 and 1924. Although there is no universal age requirement to compete in the Olympics, the youngest athlete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was 12 years old.
In early 2024, a video purportedly showing scenes from the Infant Olympics went viral on social media. The video featured young children from around the world competing in events such as weightlifting and the “10-meter waddle'', accompanied by Olympic-style commentary. The caption read, “How old were you today when you found out about Baby Olympics?”
This video is available on Reddit, TikTok, X (Formerly Twitter).
So it turns out the video is real and was posted on the official Olympic YouTube channel in April 2017. However, we rated this claim as “False Caption” because the video did not depict the official Olympic Games for infants.
A video titled “What if a cute baby made it to the Olympics” was posted on the Olympic YouTube channel with the caption, “Only a few special babies will take home a gold medal in this baby game.” It was done.
A behind-the-scenes video on the official Olympic website showed how the intentionally humorous (and adorable) footage was filmed.

In February 2018, the Olympics released a similar video titled “What if a cute baby competes in the Winter Games?”
Although there is no Olympic Games for infants, a similar initiative has emerged in Bahrain, a small Arab nation in the Persian Gulf, where the Bahrain Olympic Committee is hosting a series of “Baby Olympics” competitions for young children. . An article published by Bahrain's English-language newspaper Gulf Daily News quoted the BOC's sports project management director as saying that the event was inspired by the 2017 viral “Baby Olympics” video.
“The idea for the Baby Games originally came about when BOC members attended the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) conference in Prague in 2017 and created a funny and emotional International Olympic Committee video about the Baby Olympic Games. “It was born after I saw it,” he added. “So we decided to start a national Olympic competition for infants in Bahrain, which was a huge success.”
According to a 2018 article in Bahrain's Daily Tribune News, approximately 1,200 children from 66 nurseries and kindergartens participated in “the first Bahrain Games, the Kingdom's largest children's sporting event.”
