The co-main event of ONE Friday Fights 58 was canceled after Jonathan Di Vera withdrew at the last minute from his strawweight kickboxing title bout against Prajanchai PK Sanchai Gym.
According to ONE Championship, the Italian-Canadian has decided not to continue due to weight gain issues.
Officials said Di Bella did not pass a hydration test and chose not to play.
Officials said, “The ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Championship has become vacant.''
Di Vera's team released a statement saying the fighter was taken to hospital but remains too unwell to be “in the ring.”
As part of ONE Championship's protocols, strawweight fighters must prove they weigh no more than 125 pounds and have a hydration level of no more than 1.025.
Di Vera became the inaugural ONE Championship Strawweight Champion in 2022 and successfully defended the belt last year. He was expected to make his second appearance against Prajanchai in Bangkok.
Prajanchai is the current strawweight Muay Thai champion and was looking to add another title to his collection.
The Thai fighter is in pole position and will fight for the title, although he will have to wait, as the kickboxing title is vacant.
The other title fight on this card remains in place. Superbon Sinha Mawin weighed 153 pounds and Marat Grigoryan weighed 154.2 pounds for the interim kickboxing featherweight title fight, which is set at 155 pounds. Both patients passed the hydration test.
Separately, one-handed fighter Jake Peacock will make his ONE Championship debut in a bantamweight Muay Thai match against Kohei Shinshiro.
Both men passed a hydration test and the Englishman, whose father Gavin Peacock played for Chelsea and Newcastle United, weighed 144.6lbs, while his opponent weighed 144lbs.
