Auburn continues to change its culture, and one player isn't afraid to discuss it.
That young man will be the starting quarterback. peyton thorne. Here's what he said during today's media session about much of the attitude of the current Tigers compared to some of the Tigers moving on from the 2023 roster.
“I was thinking about this yesterday or the day before,” Thorne began. “All the guys that you get frustrated with, like… why are you like… why don't you want to be here? You know, why don't you want to train? And stuff like that That's it.
“Most of those players have gone, so it was really refreshing. And most of the players, almost all of them who are here now, want to be here, want to train and want to play well. “I feel that way.”In the practices so far (this spring), the energy has been on an order of magnitude. ”
Whenever a new coaching staff takes over a struggling program, situations like the one Thorne is discussing could eventually come to light. It's up to you what you want to do, but consider the following two points:
First, it will take years to truly build out Auburn's football roster. Hugh Freeze And his coaching staff wants that too. It's only the beginning of his second year in the Freeze era, and he still has a long way to go. As Thorn says, his attitude and energy have been much better this spring, so that's good news.
Second, recruits will notice the high energy and positivity of the program Thorne talks about. It will bring benefits in the future. Auburn is still far from where they want to be, but Thorne's honest answer is a great sign of things to come for the Tigers.
