release date April 4, 2024
On May 8, the Olympic torch for the 2024 Paris Games will arrive by boat from Greece to the old port of Marseille, France's second largest city. Almost 3,000 years ago, when the first Greek settlers arrived to found Marseille.
Marseille is famous for getting more sunshine than other places in France, so expect a warm and sunny day. And now is the city's time to shine. Marseille is not only the starting point for his 80-day torch relay, which culminates in Paris on July 26th. It is also an important Olympic venue in its own right.
Marseille will host sailing competitions on its spectacularly rugged coastline, as well as 10 soccer matches, including France's opener, in the local team's 65,000-seat stadium.
While Paris will be in the spotlight and hosting big events, Marseille will be hosting its own little beach party. For those looking for a more languid Mediterranean summer atmosphere while enjoying the glamor of the Olympics, Paris is just three and a half hours away by high-speed train from Center Stage. – Complete report
