SALT LAKE CITY — As a preferred host site for the 2034 Winter Olympics, Utah representatives must propose the use of existing Olympic venues during the 2034 Games.
And we need to suggest some new venues.
Today, the Salt Lake City Utah Convention Committee did just that.
Most of the proposed venues are what you would expect: Utah Olympic Oval in Kearns, Utah Olympic Park in Park City, and Soldier Hollow in Midway.
New venue ideas include a new downtown Big Air location for the Winter Olympics. It just started in 2018. According to a press release from the Salt Lake City-Utah Convention Committee, Big Air “generally takes place atop a towering, mobile scaffolding structure…the location is flexible.”

The Salt Lake City-Utah Commission proposed Block 85 as the atmospheric location for the Medal Plaza for the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Another proposed addition is the Salt Palace Convention Center for Olympic and Paralympic curling.
Brock Fraser, CEO of the Utah Salt Lake City Convention Committee, said in a press release: “Salt Palace offered a sustainable approach with the opportunity to expand temporary facilities and seating without the need for permanent new construction.”
In addition to curling, the Salt Palace will also house the game's main media center.
The commission also said the opening and closing ceremonies will be held at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
