By 2024, 12 Massachusetts companies will eliminate more than 2,700 jobs.
Just three months into this year, two Massachusetts-based technology companies alone have laid off hundreds of employees, the Boston Business Journal reported.
Twelve Massachusetts tech companies have cut more than 2,700 jobs through 2024, according to the magazine, which tracks layoffs at Bay State tech companies.
According to BBJ, the largest layoffs between January and March were at publicly traded companies Wayfair and Toast. Wayfair announced in January that it would cut about 1,650 jobs, affecting 936 employees at its Boston headquarters, including those working remotely, and about 500 state residents, the newspaper reported.
Meanwhile, Toast announced in February that it would cut about 550 employees.
Boston liquor delivery company Drizly, which along with its parent company Uber announced it would go out of business in January, was among 12 Massachusetts companies to cut jobs at the beginning of the year. According to BBJ, Drizly plans to lay off 168 employees between April and September.
