On Wednesday, coaches and players from Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC gathered with doctors from UofL Health at Cardinal Station Medical Center to announce the partnership.
From now on, a university health doctor will direct the team's medical care.
“This partnership means our teams will be able to respond to emergencies and other medical needs on the sidelines of each home game,” said UofL Health's Associate Director of the Sports Medicine Institute. Brett Hayes said.
Hayes said it will provide athletes with a wide range of services and state-of-the-art sports medicine. One example they unveiled Wednesday is MotionHe, a special platform that uses capture technology to analyze athletes' movements.
Conversely, he said UofL Health will benefit from research done in collaboration with athletes. This data will later help inform treatments for everyday patients.
Racing Louisville head coach Beverly Yanez said the team is grateful and excited for the partnership.
“And it's such an honor to be surrounded by good people, people who enjoy what they do, people who are passionate about what they do,” she said.
With this partnership, soccer fans can expect to see and hear the UofL Health name frequently at Linn Family Stadium. UofL will also have naming rights to fields within the team's training center.
