- Mitch Robinson has had an impressive start to his boxing career
- Former AFL star defeated Kane Pettyfer on Wednesday night
- He wants to play against a former NRL player next.
Mitch Robinson took on rival NRL stars after a great start to his boxing career.
The former Brisbane Lions player, 34, appeared on The Gathering on Wednesday night, taking on former Tigers star Kane Pettyfer in Adelaide.
Robinson faced a tough challenge against Pettyfer, who had a three-fight clean record, but the judges' scorecards showed he had a natural ability to easily win the fight.
Unlike fellow former footballers Kane Cornes and Dane Swann (who each downplayed talks of returning to the ring), Robinson is keen to test himself again.
“I don't know who's in my class in the NRL, but AFL versus NRL would be a good opportunity,” he said.
“I want to play against them. I know they're going to run out of gas faster than us, but they've got some punch, so we'll see.”
“I'm going to have a few beers. I haven't had one in eight weeks and I want a beer, that's for sure.”
Reflecting on his performance, Robinson was pleased with how he fared against Pettyfer.
“Kane was a little fed up in the room because he had three fights and three wins,” he added.
“But I knew I could punch if I had to, I could fight a little bit, I could box smartly.”
