During Keenan Allen's press conference with the Bears, he revealed that one of the teams the Chargers were close to acquiring him was the Houston Texans. It indicated the Texans were interested in adding a wide receiver, but that wasn't all. Any Warm up and fill out the depth chart. They were looking for a high level veteran seamstress with a proven track record for the position.
They were able to find a match in former Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs and sign him for a 2025 second-round pick.
Texans trade Stefon Diggs for 2025 second-round pick, 2024 sixth-round pick, and 2025 fifth-round pick
Stefon Diggs and the Bills have enjoyed a great journey together. His addition coincided with a key moment in Josh Allen's evolution into one of the most feared quarterbacks in the NFL. The dynamic duo's synergy was undeniable. Allen helped make it clear to everyone that Diggs has been performing at the level of a top-level No. 1 wideout for years. However, over the past few months, it has become clear that this successful partnership is coming to an end for some reason.
Buffalo has a quality wide receiver pair at the top of the depth chart in Curtis Samuel and Khalil Shakir, and Dalton Kincaid, who was selected as a tight end in Round 1 from last year. While the options surrounding Allen aren't completely gone, wide receiver is right at the top of the organization's needs as the NFL draft approaches in April.
A team with deep X-receiver depth might be able to hang on late in the first round and find their next WR1. On the other hand, while this may just be fan fiction, don't rule out the possibility of Allen actively moving up draft boards to secure his next target.
Thoughts that are very relevant right now @Robert Mays And me from today's pod: A contending team (like the Bills) is preparing to trade a player like Julio Jones down the draft board to acquire one of the top three WR candidates. Is it possible? pic.twitter.com/vLkZ4fe2wQ

The Bills' offense will likely be without Diggs unless the team can acquire an immediate player in the draft, which is not an impossible request this year. But no one needs to worry about Allen's work or accomplishments. He is a proven player who can make it work in addition to the room currently built, as well as any rookies added to the mix.
The Texans side of this trade is far Provides a more interesting and challenging projection on paper. The addition of Diggs gives Houston what is considered one of the best wide receiver rooms in the NFL. It may also be a little more targeted.
Who has the most fantasy worldview among Houston's receiver trio?
Tank Dell and Nico Collins were a revelation duo last season, averaging nearly the same goal share per full game together and achieving the same level of production in two different roles.
Dell quickly gained attention as a rookie due to his ability to beat man coverage and win difficult downfield routes.
We've been talking about this for a few weeks now, but Tank Dell may already be one of the most dangerous receivers on outbreak routes, especially down the field. And that's not all he can do. pic.twitter.com/9qWEuo8UJA

However, we must not forget that he will be returning from a serious injury at the end of the season. This should be on the Texans' minds as they look for high-level receiver help this offseason. When healthy, Dell will provide the Texans with inside/outside flexibility and carry a big aDOT even if his target total is modest.
In my opinion, Collins is on track for superstardom as an X receiver. He had a statistically breakout season last year, but don't be fooled. His movies were great in the first two seasons of his career, and Reception Perception showed CJ Stroud shining in isolation long before his arrival. Collins plays an important role in this offense as the X who runs the penetration route. He and Stroud enjoyed an instant connection that should continue to blossom.
Now, here comes Diggs. Diggs may have declined a bit as a deep game player, but he's still a great separator and quality receiver. He probably won't average anywhere near the 161 targets a season he maintained in Buffalo as part of Houston's receiver room, but he also won't skyrocket in fantasy football ADP either. Diggs will give Stroud a clear layup target and allow all of these receivers to move around and fill different roles. His addition is a clear positive for Houston's overall offensive efficiency outlook.
For Diggs' personal outlook, one of the biggest variables in his prediction if the trade were to go through was that he would almost certainly experience a quarterback demotion wherever he ends up. The Texans are one of the few teams that can reasonably claim there may not be a drop-off.
I'm not saying CJ Stroud is a better quarterback than Josh Allen at this point. But all the evidence in his rookie season showed he had the ability to join the elite. Highly accurate, Stroud terrorized every blade of grass on the field in year one while demonstrating a high level of pre- and post-snap processing. He ranked 12th among quarterbacks in EPA per dropback last season while running the NFL's big-boy offense as a rookie. The sky is the limit for this player.
The Texans are officially the “correct” fantasy.
In fantasy football, at least one or two offenses provide multiple correct answers each season. A type of unit that makes the target tree discussion seem irrelevant and creates multiple “ADP winners”. For a team to develop such an offense, it would take a quality first- or second-tier quarterback, a sharp offensive play-caller, and overall excellence with an offensive line and multiple dangerous receiving threats. We need a strong ecosystem. All the data available to us shows that Houston owns all of these variables. You don't even have to squint.
Before this Stefon Diggs trade took place, it was easy to get excited about the Texans. The chances of them being the right offense now seem incredibly high. By the time the ADP issue settles down in the summer, I would be very interested in acquiring multiple passing game players from the Houston Texans at a cost.
