Oahe Capitals hockey players Eva Lovinger, Katie Reese and Briley Kafka have been selected to be members of the Team South Dakota 14U and 16U USA Hockey Tier II National Tournament Team.
The tournament will run from Wednesday to Sunday (April 3-7, 2024)the girls 16U team will play in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the girls 14U will play in Sioux Falls.
Team South Dakota 14U is comprised of 18 female players representing eight of the 11 affiliates of the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association. TSD 16U features 17 players and showcases seven different hockey communities.
These players participated in about 20 games with their teammates last fall with the aim of participating in the national tournament, and have been practicing together again since early March.
Teams from 14 different states compete in three rounds of pool play, with the top teams advancing to the championship round. The Tier II National Championship will be held on Sunday.
Both Team SD teams will take to the ice for the first game Wednesday. (April 3). The 16U girls begin the tournament with a game against Michigan State's Honey Baked at 3 p.m. The 14U girls will take on the Vegas Junior Golden Knights at 5 p.m.
