Ryan Garcia posted video footage today of him dropping a lean sparring partner with a left-fighting duo in preparation for his April 20th bout with Devin Haney. It looked more like a flash knockdown than a legitimate knockdown.
The knockdown looked as convincing as a $3 bill. It was completely staged and the only thing missing was applause.
Some fans on social media believe the sparring partner was lightweight Frank Martin, the same trainer as Derrick James' Ryan.
Backlash on social media
Whoever it is, people aren't impressed with Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs), and he's a very wealthy man who posts clips of his best moments at the expense of less fortunate and less wealthy sparring players. I think it's a despicable act. Your partner is just trying to help.
It's unclear what kind of reaction Ryan expected from fans, but he really misjudged them. Mr. Kingly probably thought he would receive the admiration and adoration of his peers, but instead they see him as a wretch for posting that clip. Did Ryan think he would get applause?
It's one thing to film a sparring session and leak it in secret, but posting a clip of a fighter beating the shit out of some poor soul is something to be looked down upon, especially if you're filthy rich. is.
“Honestly, he's legal, but he's fighting something he doesn't like,” Ryan Garcia said. X, we're talking about sparring partners. “If you pay someone a lot of money, they can do whatever they want with the footage. He's a future champion. What are you mad about?”
But hey, at least his right hand is…improving?
One positive from the sparring footage was that Ryan dropped the fighter with a right hand rather than his trademark punch, a left hook. Ryan's right arm has been a weak arm throughout his career, and perhaps hasn't improved until now.
Ryan will need a lot of luck if he wants to land the same punch on Haney.
Honestly he's legit, he fights his ass off pic.twitter.com/3KuVZ2Acl9
