Manon Fiorotto didn't have much time to celebrate her win over Erin Blanchfield at UFC Atlantic City, as she did not attend the post-fight press conference and was taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.
Typically, those who endure intense fighting or sustain some sort of serious injury are transported rather than remaining there to speak to the media after the event.
The good news is, a source close to Fiorotto's camp told MMA Fighting that there were “nothing serious” about the potential injuries after the fight, and Fiorotto was sent for medical tests. He was “laughing and smiling'' on his way to the hospital to receive the treatment.
Fiorotto earned a shutout victory in his first UFC main event, blanking Blanchfield for every round and earning a lopsided scorecard of 50-45 across the board. Her resounding victory came thanks in large part to an effective counter-strike game that allowed Fiorotto to stay tenacious while pummeling Blanchfield with dozens of punches over five rounds.
Blanchfield had a hard time closing the distance with the taller Fiorotto, but Fiorotto also showed the strength to shake off all of his opponent's grappling techniques.
After the win, Fioroto revealed her intention to aim for the title next, hoping to face the winner of the upcoming trilogy bout between current flyweight champion Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko later this year. He said there was.
“I fought everyone in that category. I want the title, that's all,” Fiorotto exclaimed. “I'm ready for anything. I want to get a shot at the title.”
Timing may be the advantage against Fiorot at this point.
Grasso and Shevchenko are currently coaching for the new season. ultimate fighter, All signs point to a trilogy between them taking place in September. If Fiorotto waits, she could end up missing the remainder of 2024, but the risk could be worth the reward if she can win UFC gold.
Fiorotto remains undefeated in the UFC with a perfect 7-0 record, and this off-season will also allow him to rest and recover after Saturday's five-round performance.
