Another weekend of MMA action is about to begin. Tonight, Hard Rock Live in Wheatland, California is the venue for the sold-out A1 Combat 19. The action begins on the promotion's YouTube channel with an amateur undercard at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT, followed by matches beginning at 10:00 PM ET/7:00 PM PT. Main card of UFC Fight Pass.
All told, barring any last-minute postponements, the final version of the event will feature 14 games, down from the originally scheduled 17.
Friday's card will be the final A1 Combat Show for nearly two months. After an April hiatus, the Urijah Faber promotion returns to live action on A1 Combat 20 on Friday, May 17th and A1 Combat 21 on Saturday, May 25th.
The latter card will see Urijah Faber return to MMA as an opponent, with an opponent yet to be determined. I'll explain these cards in more detail when I have a chance.
main event
As far as tonight's A1 Combat event goes, its main card will be decided by three championship fights. Tonight's main event will feature reigning titleholder Ernie Juarez (7-0 MMA, 4-0 A1 Combat) and challenger Abdikabir Kardar (5-2 MMA, 3-1 A1 Combat). The A1 Combat Featherweight Championship is on the line.
sub-main event
Just before the headliner, the middleweight gold medal will be on the line in tonight's co-main event. Kebem Felipe (8-6 MMA, 1-0 MMA) will face PFL veteran Handeson Ferreira (18-5-1 MMA, making his promotional debut with A1 Combat). Ferreira fought Jason Butcher (15-5 mixed martial arts, A1 Combat Promotions debut), who withdrew earlier this week due to illness.
Featured matches and remaining cards
The first title fight on the pro portion of the card will be in the promotion's strawweight division between Namiki Kawahara (7-5-2 MMA, A1 Combat Promotions debut) and Anthony Do (8-7 MMA, 0-1 A1 Combat). This is a game to watch. Championship.
Beyond the championship fight, we can see a contract catchweight of 140 pounds.
