Mike Tyson has warned Jake Paul it will be a tough fight unless he follows the boxing veteran's advice in a “scary” new video. Tyson, known as “Iron Mike,” is preparing for his fight with Paul, scheduled for July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, which will be broadcast live on Netflix.
Tyson hasn't fought professionally in nearly 20 years, his last being an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020, but video shows he's maintained his reputation for knockout power.
The former heavyweight champion has been training for quite some time and even shared an old boxing video, warning Paul that “if you get backed into a corner, it's game over” and urging him to avoid the ropes during the fight.
Paul, a YouTube celebrity turned professional boxer, has recently competed against lesser-known fighters, knocking out both Andre August and Ryan Borland. His decision to face Tyson, a legendary figure in the sport, has drawn criticism from boxing enthusiasts.
In his next fight, Paul will be 30 years younger than Tyson. But before Tyson, 57, can step into the ring, he must pass a series of medical tests to get the green light from a local committee.
Tyson's last opponent has proven his formidable punching power, but Paul seems skeptical that Tyson's ferocious strength is just a legend.
“I want to see how hard he hits. Mike, I really want to see, brother. Look at all the legends and myths, 'cause you're the Iron Mike Tyson. But I… He's got an iron jaw, people know that. I embrace it. I think people underestimate that I can handle his power, but it's going to be interesting.” Paul said on the podcast.
“I bite a lot. I'm definitely the toughest, most savage, deadliest opponent, regardless of age, because power is the last thing left. The reaction and reception to it is insane. It's almost unbelievable.'' It's so surreal and I'm so, so grateful for it all. we'll go see. I am excited. I literally can't wait to look across the ring to see him and give him the ****** death stare. ”
