NEWPORT — Local high school athletes are gaining significant recognition in both basketball and hockey, showcasing their skills and dedication in league games and statewide competitions.
In basketball, Sabine Brück was named Player of the Year, a prestigious award that highlights exceptional performances throughout the season.
Joining her on the All-Capital team are Haidyn Chilahou, who earned a first-team spot, and Maya Auger, who was selected to the second team. Hayden Boivin also received an honorable mention award, making it a successful season for Newport basketball players.
The results extend to the hockey rink, where the North Country Hockey All Stars have had a huge impact.
Alex Giroux was a first-team All-State selection leading the way and showed outstanding skill and leadership on the ice. His accomplishments were complemented by Zach Griffiths, Jonathan Giroux and Ben West, who each received All-State Honorable Mention. Additionally, Isabelle Gaudreau received the All Lake Honor Award, highlighting his contribution to his team's success.
These honors reflect the hard work, talent and dedication of Newport athletes both on the basketball court and the hockey rink. Their accomplishments have brought pride to the team and community and set a high standard for future players to aspire to.
