CAMERON — The first season just got a little sweeter for Marlin.
After reaching the state football playoffs for the first time in school history, the Bulldogs weren't content with just being there. Marlin scored four second-half goals to beat Taylor Ducks 5-2 on Tuesday night in the Class 4A bi-district playoffs for the program's first postseason win.
Marlin (13-9-1) will play the winner of Stafford vs. Columbus in the area playoffs later this week.
Mansfield Lake Ridge 5, Midway 3
MANSFIELD — Midway's first loss in a month and a half closed the gap by a wide margin.
Mansfield-Lakeridge's aggressive offensive style held off Midway in the Class 6A bi-district playoffs at Vernon Newsom Stadium, capping off a great season for the Panthers (18-3-2).

It was Midway's first loss since February 13, when they lost 3-1 to Pflugerville-Weiss. Midway also gave up five runs in the 6-5 win, matching the Panthers' highest scoring total by an opponent all season. Photographed over Galena Park North Shore in January.
The Panthers outscored their opponents 64-21 this season.
La Vega 3, Giddings 0
CAMERON — The Pirates used a perfect all-around effort to defeat the Buffaloes in the Class 4A bi-district playoffs at Yohe Stadium.
Gael Hernandez, Brian Valencia and Dovany Morales scored the goals for La Vega, who won their 18th straight game. Jordan Medina and Raul Flores-Alvarado each added an assist in the scoring.
Junior Alfredo Martinez pitched the shutout for the Pirates (20-1-2), who will face either El Campo or Iowa Colony in the area playoff round.
Gatesville 6, Kennedale 4
The Hornets used five second-half goals to skyrocket their lead and hold off Kennedale in the Class 4A bi-district playoffs at China Spring High School.
Gatesville (11-6-2) will play either Lake Worth or Fort Worth Diamond Hill Jarvis in the area playoffs.

Mansfield Lake Ridge 3, Midway 2
MANSFIELD — After reaching the third round of the playoffs last season, the Pantherettes had high hopes of getting at least that far (or better) this year. But Lake Ridge had a payoff in mind.
The Lady Eagles found the net three times against Midway's vaunted defense to upset the District 12-6A champions in the bi-district round of the playoffs.
Midway (16-7-2) gave up just 23 points, but gave up six total in a playoff preparatory game against Forney and a playoff loss to Lakeridge.
Last year, Midway shut out Lake Ridge 1-0 in the bi-district round.
A&M Integration 3, University 0
The undefeated Lady Tigers shut out the Lady Trojans in the 5A Bi-District playoffs to close out the college season.
The university finished the season with a record of 12 wins, 5 losses, and 3 draws.
Lorena 12, Caldwell 0
TEMPLE — Anyone who says there isn't a lot of scoring in soccer hasn't seen the Lorena girls play.
The Lady Leopards scored 12 goals in a 12-goal rout of the Hornets in Class 4A bi-district playoff action Tuesday at Lake Belton High School.
The move gives Lorena (19-3-2), who hasn't lost since January, 119 goals on the season. It was the team's fourth double-digit score of the season. The Lady Leopards will look to continue their downhill run when they take on El Campo in the area playoffs.

After a long stretch of scoreless football, China Spring defeated Godley 4-2 in dramatic penalty kick fashion to advance to the Class 4A bi-district playoffs.
It was the second penalty victory for China Spring (15 wins, 6 losses, 3 draws) in the past four games, and the team's ninth shutout victory this year. Next up is an area round battle against Fort Worth Benbrook later this week.
La Vega 5, Smithville 0
Behind the dizzying play of Sidney Campos and Angelina Montelongo, La Vega defeated Smithville in the 4A Bi-District playoffs.
La Vega scored two goals in the first half and made it even easier with three goals in the second half.
The Lady Pirates (13-6-1) will tie with Bay City in the area playoffs at a time and location to be announced.
Taylor 2, Robinson 1
The Ducks did not take on the Rockets in the 4A bi-district playoffs, and two underclassmen scored goals.
Freshman Caitlin Crane and sophomore Tessa Kopecky each found the back of Taylor's net for the winning goal in the second half.
Robinson finished the season with a record of 9-8-1.
