Local martial arts prodigy Kevashen Naidoo put on an other-worldly performance at the recent International Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Federation (IFFSK) KwaZulu-Natal Regional Development Championships. Competing in the orange belt division, the young martial artist awed spectators with his precision, grace and agility.

“In the kumite rounds, he faced opponents twice his age and met their fierce determination with his own unwavering resolve. He fought through three gruelling rounds, unleashing a symphony of kicks, blocks and lightning fast strikes. His dedication reverberated through the school corridors and we are very proud of his achievement,” said Singh.
Behind this young star is the passion of his teacher, Kemi Norris. The halls of St Mary's School were transformed into a dojo where Kevashen honed his skills, and weekly training sessions became a ritual.
“Kebashin's victory is not just about medals and trophies; it is a reminder of the importance of self-defense skills. In a world where safety is more important than ever, young warriors like him are an inspiration to us all. Congratulations Kebashin! Your victory will resonate far beyond the mat,” said Singh.
