Multiple South Paulding players were on campus yesterday, including Jace Sanker and OL Tyler Chukwuem, TE Tyler Leyshon, QB Cade Wigginton and OL Will Anderton. Sankar has continued to build relationships with the Georgia Tech staff. He hasn't received an offer from the program yet, but he continues to have discussions with OL coach Jeep Wade. Sanker spoke at length about what caught his eye during practice and his relationship with Coach Wade.
“Georgia Tech's intensity is insane. They're always doing something, and their coaches make sure it's done efficiently and at their standard.” I first met Coach Wade at OL/DL camp last summer and he invited me to watch a game last season. I got his phone number and have been in touch with him ever since. ,” Sankar said. “I was excited to see him again and watch him coach his players. He's a very cool guy, which is what I personally look for in a coach.”
Sankar is 6-foot-4 and weighs 276 pounds. He's only a sophomore, so his body still has time to grow and continue to grow. He is a very mobile and athletic offensive tackle who can jump into space and be effective in the screen game. Sankar is very adept at dealing with bullish rushes and can block one-on-one without any help. He completes blocks and removes defenders from the play. He talked about what differentiates himself from others.
“I think what sets me apart from others is my mindset. I know that football is something that will always be there for me. No matter what happens, I do what makes me happy. I will train as hard as I can for this,” Sankar said.
In 2023, Sanker pancaked 68 times and did not allow a sack while protecting. He was the anchor of the Spartans' offensive line. In terms of his development, look no further than his offensive line coach, who has had a huge impact on his prep career thus far.
“The coach who had the biggest influence on me this year was the OL coach (Coach Lawson) at South Paulding High School. Coach Lawson always pushed me to be the best no matter what. Allen I've had a good relationship with Coach ever since he brought in a new staff,” Sanker said. “Everyone on this new staff has influenced me and helped me grow, but the one I want to thank the most is Coach Lawson. Some of my accomplishments this season are the team and I We won a championship in a new region that we just moved into. We're moving down from 6A to 5A. My team and I have been planning to take advantage of that talent and win it all this year. Also, our junior year… I was hoping to get more offers this year.
Sanker currently holds an offer from UNC Charlotte, which could accelerate his recruitment this summer and fall, especially if he has a strong spring. He achieved a bench press of 305 pounds and a max squat of 545 pounds in late January. Sankar is only 15 years old and has all the tools to be successful next year. While many will be staying in South Paulding heading into the new year, the Spartans are bringing back a number of young talents, including standout offensive lineman and quarterback Cade Wigginton. Sanker will be a company to watch over the coming months, with a number of quality programs likely to extend their offers.
