The 2024 soccer season begins in Wyoming with three defending champions at the top of the preseason WyoPreps Coaches and Media Soccer Polls. Worland's boys took first place over girls Cody and Kelly Walsh. The only defending champion not in the top spot was the Thunder Basin boys in Class 4A. The Bolts were ranked No. 4 in the preseason poll.
Wyoming High School Soccer Rankings 2024
Many of my favorites are listed here.
The Phillies took first place in the 3A girls division. Cody received all but one of the ten first-place votes. Her two-time defending champion was followed by last year's runner-up Worland. Powell was third, followed by Douglas and Lander.
For the 4A girls, Kelly Walsh received the same number of first-place votes as Jackson, but the defending champion Trojans took first place with more second-place votes. The Broncs were ranked No. 2 in the preseason standings. Natrona County remained in third place in the poll, with Thunder Basin and Laramie in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
In the 3A boys division, five-time defending champion Worland came out on top with eight of the 11 first-place votes. Cody followed the Warriors. Mr. Powell came in third place, just nine points behind Mr. Torrington in the poll. Douglas finished the preseason top five in fifth place.
Finally, Cheyenne Central maintained its top spot in the 4A boys rankings. The Indians were runners-up last season, receiving eight of the 14 first-place votes. Kelly Walsh came in second place in the voting. Jackson was third. Defending champion Thunder Basin received two first-place votes but finished fourth in the voting. Sheridan completed the boys' questionnaire.
