In FCS football, only about a quarter of last year's postseason All-Americans are returning this season and many of the leadership roles have changed, but the talent remains strong, especially among the highly ranked programs, with many named to the 2024 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American Team.
Two-time defending FCS champion South Dakota State University and fellow national powerhouses North Dakota State University, University of Montana and Montana State University top the 2024 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America team.
Mark Gronowski, the 2023 Walter Payton Award winner and FCS Offensive Player of the Year, is one of six South Dakota State players selected to the All-American team and is also one of five returning players from last year's postseason first team, joining Montana State offensive lineman Marcus Ware and University of Central Arkansas defensive end. David Walker (also a 2022 First Team All-American), safety from North Dakota State University Cole Wisniewski and Merrimack kick returner Donovan Wadley.
North Dakota State University has the most preseason All-Americans with eight, followed by Montana State University with six and Montana State University with five.
The 106 All-Americans represent all 13 FCS conferences and 60 schools.
