With the UEFA European Championship and Copa America wrapping up earlier this month, soccer fans' attention is now turning to Paris and the 2024 Summer Olympics, where the men's tournament will begin on July 24. Spain won their record-breaking fourth Euro title on July 14, while Argentina set a new record for most wins by winning their second consecutive title and their 16th Copa America title on the same day. Both teams are two of the three teams competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics and have already won Olympic gold medals; Spain won in 1992, while Argentina won back-to-back gold medals in 2004 and 2008.
Host nation France won gold in 1984, and with two-time defending champions Brazil failing to qualify for this year's tournament, the latest 2024 Summer Olympics odds give them a +200 chance of reaching the top of the podium. Argentina is +240, and Spain, who had to settle for a third silver medal in 2020, is +260. Morocco is +1200, while the United States and Japan round out the top contenders for the Paris 2024 Olympics at +2200. Before you lock in any 2024 Summer Olympics futures picks or predictions, you should hear from SportsLine soccer expert John “Buckets” Eimer.

Top predictions for the 2024 Summer Olympics
Eimer is eschewing the United States, which has never won a gold medal in its last 14 Summer Olympic appearances. In fact, the U.S. hasn't won a medal of any kind since winning silver and bronze in St. Louis in 1904. Since reaching the quarterfinals in 1956, the team has only made it to the knockout stages of the tournament once, falling 2-0 to Chile in the bronze-medal game in Sydney in 2000 and failing to bring home a medal.
The U.S. will be competing in its first Olympic Games since 2008 and its fifth overall since the team was required to be made up of players 23 or younger. The U.S. team enters the 2024 Paris Olympics on a poor track record, winning just two of its last six games. One of those wins came against fellow Group A opponent Guinea in March, and the U.S. drew with France a few days later. But losses to Morocco and Japan kept the U.S. from winning against other Olympic teams. For more of Eimer's predictions, check out SportsLine.
