13 years old Gabi Brito Brito continued her good form by setting another personal best in the 50m freestyle, this time just making the cut for the U.S. Olympic Trials. She clocked 25.42 seconds, faster than the cut time of 25.69 seconds.
Last weekend, Brito narrowly missed qualifying for the Olympic Games with a personal best time of 25.71 seconds. Though he won't qualify for the time being, Brito set a new record by becoming the fastest 13-year-old in history. Kate Douglas Douglas ran 25.80 seconds in 2015, and has since become the American record holder in the event.
Despite only being 13 years old, Brito is already ranked high on the all-time list in the 13-14 age group. Brito tied for 11th place with a time of 25.71 last weekend, which has now moved her up to fourth all-time.
